The start of something extraordinary

COVID-19 and the swimming community

COVID-19 and the swimming community

We are in Level 2.

There is definitely more freedom of movement at Alert Level 2 and most importantly, we get to jump back into the pool! However, we must make sure we are abiding by the rules. Click HERE to read more about Sport and Level 2. If you are unsure about something, just ask!

The key requirements in Level 2 are contract tracing, cleaning and hygiene and restrictions on gatherings (both indoors and outdoors). Effective from midday on Friday 29th May 2020, the number of people allowed to gather will be a maximum of 100 people.

We are asking all members to follow these requirements,  to make sure we don’t contribute to the spread of COVID-19.

The Swimming NZ team and board are monitoring the developments daily and will update this page continually. Information is being sourced from many different authorities including the Government, Ministry of Health, High Performance Sport NZ, Sport NZ and of course our own medical advisers.

Please see below some important information from the World Health Organisation (WHO) on how the COVID-19 virus spreads and how we can reduce the risk of infection.
